Ready to make a difference and lead with impact? Our Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts in Leadership & Civic Studies and Another Subject offers a dynamic blend of leadership training and a secondary focus on a subject from the Faculty of Humanities or the Faculty of Social Sciences.
This four-year degree program leads to a double major, combining leadership and civic studies with another subject of your choice. Throughout the program, you’ll engage in experiential learning, including guest lectures, hands-on projects, and co-curricular activities. In your final year, you’ll complete a capstone course that includes a work placement, allowing you to apply your skills in a real-world setting.

- Tailored Learning: Start by exploring diverse subjects in your first year, including two foundational courses on leadership and civic engagement. Discover what excites you before choosing your second major in your second year.
- Balanced Experience: Our program offers a balance university experience. In your Wilson College courses, you’ll be part of a small cohort, working closely with your peers throughout the four years. At the same time, you’ll engage with a larger faculty through your second degree, taking advantage of everything McMaster has to offer.
- Flexible Majors: Customize your degree by pairing leadership with a field from either the Faculty of Humanities or Social Sciences.

Your first year is meant to be an opportunity for you to adjust to university life and explore your interests. At the end of this year, you will then declare your second major and begin to take those required classes in your second year.
You will choose from one of the following subjects to combine with your Honours BA in Leadership and Civic Studies:
- Faculty of Humanities: Cognitive Science, Communication Studies, English & Cultural Studies, French, History, Linguistics, Media Arts, Music, Global Peace & Social Justice, Greek & Roman Studies, Philosophy, iArts (Integrated Arts).
- Faculty of Social Sciences: Anthropology, Economics, Environment & Society, Health, Aging & Society, Indigenous Studies, Political Science, Psychology & Neuroscience, Society, Culture & Religion, Sociology, Work & Labour Studies.
